In the 1990s, Japan saw a boom in minivans-and one of the models that helped ignite that trend was the Chevrolet Astro, first introduced in 1985. By the early '90s, it became a popular choice as a base for custom or conversion vans, with parallel imports rapidly increasing. In 1993, official imports began, and in 1994 the longer EXT (Extended) body became the standard.
Following the previously released LT luxury trim, TLV-NEO now introduces a van-spec Astro.
This version is based on the EXT body, and newly tooled parts accurately reproduce the windowless rear side panels found on cargo van variants. Key commercial features such as the barn-style rear doors, steel wheels with half caps, and simple bumpers are all present.
The body is painted in a deep metallic red, inspired by catalog models, and features a "CATV" stripe graphic. The burgundy interior is also faithfully reproduced, adding to its authentic 1990s charm.
